Setting and Referencing Device Information

This section describes the procedure for displaying information about devices, and setting device information such as the device name, device location and administrator details.
(For non-Canon devices and for DA units, information can only be displayed.)
  1. In the device list, select the device, and then select [Device Information] from the [Device] menu.
    You can also select [Device Information] by right-clicking a device in the list (with a Macintosh, by clicking it while holding down the control key) and selecting the item from the menu displayed.
    If the device is password protected, the [Device Password] dialog box appears when this menu is selected. Input the password and then click the [OK] button.

  2. In the [Device Information] dialog box, set or refer to the device information.

    The following items can be displayed or set for Canon devices.

    [Product Name]:
    The product name for the device.

    [Device Name]:
    Input the name of the device.

    [Location]:
    Input the location of the device.

    [Administrator]:
    Input the administrator for the device.

    [Contact Person]:
    Input the name of the maintenance service agent for the device.

    [Network Information]
    [Board Name]:
    The product name of the network board in the device.

    [Firmware Level]:
    The firmware version of the network board.

    [MAC Address]:
    The MAC address of the network board.

    [IP Address]:
    The IP address of the network board.

    [Physical Interface]:
    The type of physical interface used with the network board.
    The items that are displayed and that can be set depend on the model and the network board.
    The maximum number of characters allowed for [Device Name], [Location], [Administrator] and [Contact Person] in [Device Information] differs according to the type of device or network board you are using.

    In the case of DA units, the following items are displayed.
    [Device Information] dialog box (DA units)
    [Product Name]:
    The product name of the DA unit.

    [Assist Version]:
    The Assist version of the DA unit.

    [LAN Controller Version]:
    The LAN controller version of the DA unit.

    [MAC Address]:
    The MAC address of the DA unit.

    [IP Address]:
    The IP address of the DA unit.
    In the case of non-Canon devices, the following items are displayed.
    [Product Name]:
    The product name for the device.

    [Board Name]:
    The product name of the network board in the device.

    [MAC Address]:
    The MAC address of the network board.

    [IP Address]:
    The IP address of the network board.
  3. Click the [OK] button after you are done referencing or setting all the items.
    The settings are now enabled.
