[Not Configured] is displayed in the device list.
There are two methods for setting up devices that are not configured: setting just the IP address (Easy Setup), and setting the entire network protocol, including NetWare and AppleTalk.
| Administrator privileges are required to make new network protocol settings. With Windows NT/2000/XP/Server 2003, Solaris, or Linux, first log in (log on) as an administrator. |
|
If you are installing NetSpot Device Installer on an operating system which has the Windows Firewall function, such as Windows XP Service Pack 2, and the Windows firewall function is enabled, you cannot display unconfigured devices in the device list, nor carry out Broadcast Discovery and Multicast Discovery on a network other than the local subnet without registering NetSpot Device Installer as a program that is not to be blocked in Windows Firewall. For instructions on how to make registration settings, refer to the Readme file. (If you have registered this software in Windows Firewall by following the instructions during installation, it is not necessary to perform this procedure.) If you do not want to register this software, follow the procedure described in Making New Settings to make initial protocol settings. |
|
If the router is set to transmit the specified subnet broadcast address, you can make the initial settings of the Canon devices connected to the network through the router for which [Not Configured] is displayed in the device list.
|
| DA units configurable with NetSpot Device Installer for TCP/IP must be on the same subnet as the computer running NetSpot Device Installer for TCP/IP. DA units on other subnets or connected to the network through a router cannot be configured. |
| This section describes all items configurable with NetSpot Device Installer for TCP/IP. Configurable items differ according to device type or device status. |
| For details about how to configure a device that is not displayed in the device list for the first time, refer to Making New Settings. |
| To change existing network protocol settings, refer to Changing Protocol Settings. |
|
If the factory default IP address for the device is a valid address on the subnet of the computer where NetSpot Device Installer for TCP/IP is running, the device will be shown in the device list as a configured device even if you have not made the initial protocol settings. To set the protocol for such a device, refer to Changing Protocol Settings. (The factory default settings differ according to the type of device or network board you are using. For details, refer to the documentation provided with the device.) |
